This module provides us with essential skills for communicating design effectively through the use of modern computer software. It combines guided and self-directed learning, supported by lectures, tutorials, and online practical sessions. We are trained to use architectural software as tools for creating 3D building models, architectural renderings, and visualizations, aiding in the production of drawings and documentation required for the design process.
PROJECT 1: REVIT MODELLING AND DOCUMENTATION
This module equips students with fundamental skills for effectively communicating design using modern computer software. Through a combination of guided and self-directed learning, including lectures, tutorials, and online practical sessions, students learn to utilize architectural software for 3D building modeling, architectural renderings, and visualization. These tools are applied to support the creation of drawings and documentation required throughout the design process.

The building model is developed floor by floor, starting with the placement of walls, doors, and windows based on the scaled floor plans. Ceiling heights are assigned as follows: 3500mm (3.5 meters) for the ground floor, 3000mm (3 meters) for the second floor, and 2500mm (2.5 meters) for the upper two floors. Gridlines are utilized as a reference to accurately position the structural elements on each level. This systematic method ensures precision in constructing the model. The rooftop section is not included in this phase of the modeling process.

The creation process for the curtain wall, wall panel, and wall slat began with defining the framework for the curtain wall, including gridlines and mullion placements. For the wall panels, customized dimensions and materials were applied to achieve a uniform surface with added textures and finishes for visual appeal. The wall slats were designed with evenly spaced vertical or horizontal elements.

The process of creating the circular staircase began with defining the central axis and establishing the stair’s radius to ensure a smooth, spiral design. For the U-shaped staircase, the design started by determining the landing placement to connect the two flights. The stairs were modeled with uniform risers and treads, ensuring precise alignment between the upper and lower levels. Both staircases were crafted with attention to detail, focusing on functionality and seamless integration into the overall design.

DOOR FAMILY CREATION

The process of creating the door family began by defining the overall dimensions, such as the height and width, to suit the design requirements. The frame was modeled first, followed by the door panel, ensuring precise alignment and proportion. Parameters were added for adjustability, allowing customization of dimensions, materials, and panel styles. Additional details like handles, hinges, and glazing (if required) were incorporated to enhance realism. The family was then tested for functionality, ensuring it could be flexibly used in various wall types and configurations. This systematic approach ensured a versatile and adaptable door family for the project.

PROJECT 2: EXTERIOR & INTERIOR RENDERING
This project involves creating realistic renders of an architectural design using 3DS Max, with appropriate materials, camera angles, and post-production edits. It will be assessed on the use of materials, lighting, camera setup, and post-production skills to enhance the final result.
